India is a largest of acient civiliazation, with cities and
villages, cultivated fields, and great works of art dating back 4,000 years, Its high population density and variety of social,
economic, and cultural configuratoons are the products of a long progress of regional expansion. In the last decade of the
twentith century, such expansion has led to the rapid erosion of it's forest and wilderness areas in the face of ever-increasing
demans for resources and gigantic populaltion pressures.
India, om tje cliched obsevation is not only a country but a
continent.
Its population, which crossed one billion in the year 2000 AB.
presents the most extra ordinary contrasts. The people of this vast country speak nearly a thousand languages, follow several
different faiths- including Hindusm, Christianity, Islam, Budhism, Jainism, Zoroastrianism, Sikhism and so on.
